This project is to research the local men who served during the war and the ancestors of pupils, working with the Llandudno Records Office and the local library.
Using external agencies and teacher expertise across the various departments, pupils at Ysgol John Bright will have a fortnight of cross curricular lessons based around the First World War. During the autumn, pupils will capture relevant local and family histories and continue their investigations for an exhibition planned for the summer of 2015. The exhibition of the students work will be held in the town centre providing access for the local community and primary schools in the area.
Long lasting links with the Royal British legion and the local archives and library are central to this work.
The project will to last until June 2015 and will involve a range of pupils from Year 8 to Year 13. The project will however be open to all pupils who wish to research their own ancestors’ roles.
