Key Stage 3 pupils will recreate a virtual First World War (FWW) trench, using MinecraftEdu. Key Stage 4 pupils will also have the same goal but also represent the Central Powers for comparison and development of understanding and reconciliation.

Pupils will visit a full scale replica FWW trench in Fitzalan High School and use their experience of being inside a trench to make their virtual trench as realistic as possible, having experienced the difficulties of trench life. Visits will be made to Carmarthenshire Museum to take part in workshops provided by the Youth Engagement Team and to the Museum of the Welsh soldier, Firing Line Museum, Cardiff.

Pupils will develop collaborative skills and activities will improve social, communication, oracy and IT skills. Resources created will be uploaded to the school based YouTube. Transition for Year 6 Feeder Schools will include exploring the virtual trench. An open evening for parents and guardians of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils will be held to see the work.
