Ferndale Community School: Stories from WWI, Experiences of War from the Rhondda Fach

Every secondary school in Wales has the opportunity to apply to receive up to £1,000 to develop creative and innovative projects to commemorate the First World War. Our idea:

111024 - WG_Funded_land_mono jpg - LogoA group of selected GCSE (Year 10 /11) pupils along with Year 12 /13 pupils will create an E-book, on experiences of local men and boys from the Rhondda Fach during WWI. This will be available to  the local community as a lasting account and resource.  They will:

-       Advertise and arrange meetings with local people and groups including those involved with Maerdy cenotaph (May 2015).

-       Further research local information and collate it using relevant software (June 2015)

-       Create a permanent memorial for display in the school (July – September 2015)

Create the E-book (December 2015)
