The Town of Llanelli will hold a major civic performance to pay tribute to the Centenary of World War One.

THE TOWN REMEMBERS will see dignitaries, armed forces and civilian personnel from across the community unite with the public in the beautiful surroundings of St. Elli Parish Church to re-tell the story and sacrifice of the great war through song, music, narration and multimedia.

With the venue illuminated with candlelight and lighting effects, the commemorative spectacle will feature the massed voices of the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, the Llanelli Choral Society, leading Welsh tenor Aled Hall, drummers from the British Sinfonietta – all under the direction of conductor John Hywel Williams.

A host of celebrities and representatives from the community will present poignant readings including Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed The Hon. Robin Lewis OBE, Member of Parliament Nia Griffiths MP and The Town Mayor of Llanelli, Councillor Roger T. Price.

Highlights of the evening will include both magical and poignant moments including Abide with Me, from Karl Jenkins’ Armed Man, Hymn to the Fallen, Ode to Remembrance, Last Post, Pie Jesu, The Lord’s Prayer and popular sing-along songs from the World War One.

The Town Remembers, which will also be raising funds for Help for Heroes, will be held on Saturday 4th October. Tickets £12 and available from Cadno Music, choristers and 01269 841658. Tickets also available from:
