Performance of Benjamin Britten\’s War Requiem

Britten\’s War Requiem was first performed at the consecration of the new Coventry Cathedral. Swansea Philharmonic Choir last performed this work together with a choir from Swansea\’s twin town of Mannheim in 1995. The Mannheim Bach Choir & the Swansea Philharmonic Choir performed this work in both Mannheim in May and in Swansea in November – both performances aimed at commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War.

This work involves two orchestras, a boys\’ choir as well as the main choir and 3 soloists and will provide a magnificent commemoration of the centenary of the end of World War 1. The programme will carry an In Memoriam page on which people may place the names and rank of relatives or friends who have died in conflict.

The performance will take place in the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea and will be a-once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity to hear this work performed.
