Denbighshire LL18 3AG
The BBC World War One At Home Tour will visit county shows, summer festivals, air shows and bustling shopping centres the length and breadth of the UK. The events will reflect on the dramatic impact the war had on families and communities, as well as helping people to explore their own relatives’ links to the war.
The Events Arena in Rhyl has been chosen as one of eight locations nationwide where the large scale flagship events will take place and the Rhyl event will coincide with the town’s Air Show taking place on August 30 and 31.
Jamie Groves, Denbighshire’s Head of Communication, Marketing and Communication, said:
“We are delighted that our efforts to secure this event in Rhyl have been successful and it is a real coup for Denbighshire.
“The Events Arena is a great location to host big events, with a proven track record for attracting thousands of visitors to the promenade. This event will complement a host of other large scale events planned for the town this summer
“Denbighshire recently agreed its Events Strategy and it is stepping up a gear in terms of attracting large scale events to the county. We want to develop expertise and jobs in the creative and events support sectors, as well as in the more traditional retail, tourism and leisure businesses. We also recognise the need for events to have a positive impact on the lives of people living and working in Denbighshire”.
